A member of the U.S. Air National Guard has been arrested in connection with the high-profile leak of classified Pentagon documents, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
21-year-old Jack Douglas Teixeira of Massachusetts restrained After it was discovered that classified defense and intelligence documents related to Russia’s war in Ukraine were shared on a Discord channel used by a group calling itself “Thug Shaker Central”.
Some thoughts:
- Don’t get distracted by remote hackers working for enemy nations and overlook the potential threat posed by insiders.
- The leaker’s motive may not be to harm you or make money. They may just be showing off to their peers.
- It’s not a good idea if you really want to remain anonymous brag about your work online.
Jack Teixeira is scheduled to appear in court in Boston tomorrow.
