A welding blanket is a heat-resistant shield designed to cover an object during heat treatment.
Elliotts offers two fabrics for its blankets. heat shield When T1000Both are manufactured from E-glass fiber, a non-flammable, flexible material specifically designed to retain heat. The thermal blanket can withstand continuous use temperatures of 500°C and the T1000 can withstand up to 800°C. Both come in 900x1800mm/1800x1800mm sizes, but special sizes and roles are available upon request.

Similar to welding blankets, welding drapes are also used as shields. They are used to protect potentially endangered immobile objects from nearby welding. To be really effective, the drape must be carefully positioned to allow the splattered dross to run off the fabric.Elliotts has three types of welded drapes in his NeoWeld, SilicaGlass, and Leather .
Neoweld is our most popular and is made of E-Glass fabric coated with flame retardant neoprene to allow weld splatter to slide off. The continuous use temperature is 260 °C and the size is 900×1800/1700x1800mm or custom made on request.
leather drapes The most economical option, carefully crafted from selected chrome split leather. Various sizes are available, such as 900x1800mm/1800x1800mm/2000x2000mm/3000x3000mm and more options are available upon request. Leather drapes can withstand continuous working temperatures up to 80°C.

silica glass drape It is a premium option that can be used safely even on delicate parts. With 96% silica content, it can withstand significantly higher temperatures than alternatives, reaching continuous use temperatures of up to 1000°C. Offered in 300x300mm/900x1800mm/1700x1800mm, but can also be cut to custom specifications upon request.
What’s the difference?
The biggest difference between blankets and drapes is how they are used. A drape is placed over an object to protect it from splashes, much like a painter would cover furniture with a sheet or tarp. retains heat and slowly lowers temperature. Rapid cooling in open air can cause hot steel to crack and weaken freshly welded joints.
