Kamiku Company

In 1898, the first manufacturing plant associated with camics was opened in Contrecoeur, Quebec, Canada.

William Cook arrived in Canada from Lebanon in 1912. he was 16 years old His father feared he would be drafted into the army at his home, so he crossed the ocean.He came alone with his $500 in his pocket.

By 1932, William had saved enough money to purchase the Charon Manufacturing Company in Contrecoeur, Quebec. He has overhauled this facility with a focus on modern footgear for his entire family.

By 1940 William Cook traveled to Japan to procure rubber footwear. In 1957, William his cook resigned in favor of his son Gordon his cook and the manufacturing talent of the new generation.

By 1961 Camic opened a second factory in Saint Laurent, Quebec.

The company eventually changed its name and location. By 1972, the Kamic brand was born. It is one of the Montreal-based brands of the Cook family’s Genfoot Group. In 1979 the company acquired Hamburg Feld. 1991 saw the company’s expansion into the European market.

Contrecoeur’s assembly line ended in 1990 and the facility closed in 2004. Operations are now split between a manufacturing facility in Montreal and a manufacturing facility in Littleton, New Hampshire, USA. In 1993, Kamik embraced sustainable manufacturing.

Despite its growth, the Cook family has remained based in Montreal and continued to use Canadian materials and Canadian talent even as many other companies began outsourcing.

Global expansion now includes facilities in New Hamburg, Ontario and Romania. We also have a European office in Germany and have collaborated with Italian hiking boot brand AKU. They are a true Canadian powerhouse in the global marketplace.

Manufacturing carbon footprint and environment

Kamik has a strong commitment to the environment, including manufacturing processes and recycling. 73% of all Kamic products are made in Japan.

It is a factory that does not generate waste because it recycles everything. Products and materials are recycled at the end of their life cycle.

Canadian made felt liner for winter boots is 100% recycled plastic. Three plastic bottles are recycled for each pair of boots. Used Kamik rain boots are recycled for new uses and we also pay shipping to return the boots.

Kamik recycles 90% of the cooling water used at the facility annually, and 360,000 rain boots are made from recycled rubber. All North American factories are 100% recyclable. The packaging is likewise recyclable.

Are kamik boots good?

Features of Kamic Boots

1.) Construction

The boot construction may feature molded vulcanized rubber or provide seam seals to ensure water and snow protection.

2.) Inner sole

Most innersoles are removable. Partially molded EVA and treated to deodorize.

3.) Insulation

Some models use thinsulate foam for cushioning and removal. It can be washed and reinserted. Others feature Kamic’s HEAT-MX™ insulation, which can keep your feet warm up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

4.) Racing system

The lacing system used provides an excellent fit, although some may find it complicated. Improving.

A recyclable thermal guard liner is used, while other models may have a removable Thinsulate lining. It also has a fleece and moisture-wicking lining.

The rain boots have a HYDRO vulcanized rubber outer sole, while the other boots have a 4-season Vibram sole.

7.) Toe cap

Various boot designs feature ASTM and CSA compliant steel or composite protective toe caps.

8.) Safety

Some models are oil and acid resistant. Reflective patches and strips are common on various models for night wear.

9.) Shaft

Shafts come in a variety of heights depending on the boot style you choose. These include 6.5, 9, 11.75, 14, 15.75, and 16.5 inches.

10.) Shanks

The shank is made of fiberglass for better support.

11.) Sizing

The manufacturer states that the boots are sized correctly, but some customers felt they were a little small or narrow depending on the shape of their feet.

If you’re buying boots from an unfamiliar manufacturer, it’s a good idea to try them on.

12.) Upper

Some uppers are 100% leather, but may have a waterproof ballistic and suede interior. Some have gusseted tongues and padded collars for added comfort.

Other boot uppers use 600 denier nylon uppers. The rain boot upper is made of PVC-free vulcanized rubber. Other styles may include 100% waterproof vegan his boots with neoprene.

13.) Waterproof

Many Kamik boots are waterproof and feature seam-sealed construction for added protection.
